The RTM Story: Built by Clinicians, Designed for Diagnostic Excellence

 In News

Founded in 2008, RealTime Medical began as a response to fragmented radiology workflows and quality gaps in DI operations. Built by clinicians for clinicians, the RTM platform is designed around real-world challenges — much more than a typical software solution.

Over 17 years, RTM evolved into Canada’s largest private teleradiology network, and a provider of DI solutions platform routinely delivering 20-47% productivity gains for customers and capable of handling 40M exams in a single instance.

RTM was co-founded by three industry leaders with a shared vision:

  • Ian Maynard, CEO & Co-Founder — a 25-year veteran of healthcare IT and PACS, with leadership roles at GE Healthcare Canada and multiple innovation awards.
  • Dr. Nadine Koff, President & Co-Founder — a pioneer in Imaging Informatics with over 20 years of research and development experience and co-author of Canadian radiology standards.
  • Dr. David Koff, Chairman & Co-Founder — a professor emeritus, imaging safety advocate, and AI researcher who has shaped Canadian radiology innovation and standards at McMaster University.

Our Purpose: Improving patient care in real time.

Our Vision: Deliver industry leading innovation and exceptional service every time.

“We designed the platform around the radiologist’s needs first — so the technology fades into the background andincreased productivity and quality is the end result.”

— Ian Maynard, CEO, RealTime Medical

The Power of AICloudSuite™

The heart of RTM’s offering is AICloudSuite™, which integrates three advanced, interoperable modules under one seamless layer:

AICloudWorks™
– Intelligent orchestration powered by patented workload balancing, delivering case routing based on urgency, subspecialty, capacity, and operational parameters. Capable of managing 40 million transactions annually, with clients seeing 20–47% productivity gains.

AICloudQA™
– A pioneering multi‑dimensional peer learning system offering real-time QA, retrospective reviews, and anonymous feedback to drive quality and mitigate burnout.

AIKnowledgeEnable™ – AI-enabled search of multiple trusted, peer-reviewed, medical data sources with the collective intelligence of direct physician input to deliver the most relevant current findings and best practices based on the clinical context of the case, or your search criteria.

What sets RTM apart is its unique combination of patented workload balancing and workflow orchestration, integrated with multi-dimensional peer learning (a RealTime Medical innovation), a single AI integration layer, and unmatched speed, scale, and agility — delivering greater impact to diagnostic operations, enhanced ROI, scalability, and clinical skill development.

radiology workflowsTrusted by Leading Health Systems & Technology Partners

RTM’s experience in healthcare spans partnerships with Accenture, GE Healthcare, Agfa, and Fujifilm, and its platform is integrated into Fujifilm’s Synapse® Workflow Orchestrator. This trust reflects the platform’s scalability, resilience, and ability to support high-volume, mission-critical operations.

RTM also provides 24/7/365 diagnostic radiology services via its own RealTime Radiology™ network, combining advanced infrastructure with remote radiology services and full QA workflows.

Strong National Reputation for Radiology Quality

radiology workflowsRealTime Medical is one of the few companies consistently requested to conduct high-sensitivity radiology quality audits. We are distinguished in our reputation for radiology quality and known for specific expertise in radiology quality audit methodology, advanced peer review technology and best practices in conducting fair and objective peer review.

Real-World Impact & Client Voices

“Given the challenges groups face today—explosive volumes, rampant burnout, and severe staffing shortages—I genuinely cannot fathom how any practice survives without leveraging this type of solution.”
Dr. Mohit Naik, MD, President, Hackensack Radiology Group

“The software actually enables radiologists to easily report for and support multiple sites at once…automatically generates my work list based on my skill set.”
— Dr. Colin L. Taylor, Radiologist

“This system offers so many advantages as compared to traditional peer review. It’s a new era  of peer learning for radiologists.”

— Dr. Karen Finlay, Chief of Radiology, Hamilton Health Sciences

Radiology Reimagined — The Way It Should Be

RealTime Medical is more than a software vendor — as a radiology service provider ourselves, we understand the need for higher productivity, excellent quality and burnout prevention for radiologists – something our patented workload balancing and clinician-first platform is designed to do. RTM doesn’t just optimize radiology workflows — it reinvents how diagnostic teams collaborate, scale, and deliver care.

In an era where complexity, burnout, and inefficiency threaten care quality, RealTime Medical offers a new model — the only model that makes sense going forward. One where radiologists work from a single orchestrated system; where peer learning is embedded, not optional; where AI integration is seamless, and where fairness, speed, and accuracy are not trade-offs — they’re expected.

“We are not just optimizing radiology — we are designing tools that make teams stronger, faster, and more resilient.”

— Aleksandra Gorokhova, Business Development Lead, RealTime Medical

From Hamilton Health Sciences, which modernized its quality assurance with multidimensional peer learning, to Hackensack Radiology Group, who use the RTM solution to transform the way their radiologists read and the productivity of their entire group, RTM is setting a new benchmark for diagnostic excellence.

Most current PACS and RIS systems were not built to solve radiology’s current challenges — like workload equity, cross-specialty coordination, and embedded multidimensional peer learning. RTM fills this critical market gap with a vendor-neutral, AI-ready orchestration engine explicitly designed to accelerate diagnosis, not just manage images.

This isn’t the future of radiology. It’s the way radiology should be — today — a new standard all diagnostic teams deserve.

And RealTime Medical is how they get there.
